Postponing the decoration and furnishing of your bedroom is just procrastinating – you will have to do it one day. Yes, you wanted to erase all the other rooms from your to-do list, thinking that this is the least important one, since no one ever comes here – but is that so? You are going to spend the third of each day in this room so, you shouldn’t neglect this part of your home.
You could at least get some basics in the beginning. No one wants to sleep in a room full of boxes and piles of all the other unsorted things.
Walls and lighting
|
Bedroom Design |
Pay special attention to the colors you pick for your bedroom walls: pick some calming colors that are not going to tire your eyes. Not too bright and not too dark – avoid red tones as well as bright green ones, as these colors can make you feel a bit upset. This need not necessarily be applied to all of you out there, so if you think a certain color makes you relaxed and calm, choose that one.
The same goes for lighting. Dimmed lights are perfect for bedrooms and you need not invest in some expensive lighting – you can achieve this with two lamps on nightstands.
For females

Decorative Mirror Bedroom Design |
Vanities and mirrors should be a part of your bedroom, especially if you have a lot of makeup, perfumes and accessories – you will need a place where to put all of these things. Just make sure that you leave some room for your other half’s stuff – you don’t want to get too selfish here.
Dressers
|
Bedroom-Dressers |
Unless you want to keep your clothing and shoes all over the floor, then you’ll need to get a dresser. Pick one that isn’t going to take up too much space in your bedroom, but which can still hold all of your clothes. Match the style of your dresser with the rest of your furniture, if you don’t want your bedroom to look like a lumber-room, where you randomly put some extra furniture from the rest of your house.
Choosing a bed
There are a few things important when choosing your bed:1. Mattress and pillows
|
Bedroom Ideas |
You are, after all, going to sleep here, so make it as comfortable as you can. Too hard or too soft mattresses and pillows will make you wake up grumpy and with a pain in your back and this can cause some bigger health problems in your future. An investment like this is really important for the quality of your life. Cut back on other things that are not that important, but don’t get stingy when it comes to buying your mattress and pillows.
2. Size
|
Bedroom Design |
This one is really important – imagine sleeping in a bed that is too tiny for both you and your partner? What a nightmare, isn’t it? Measurements are really important here, so you better find a bed that fits your room and suits your needs.
3. Nightstands
|
Modern Nightstand |
These two little furniture pieces on both sides of your bed can mean a lot. You are thirsty and you want a glass of water at your hand during the night? Nightstands really serve their purpose. You can put a lamp on your nightstand and read a book until late at night, if you have troubles sleeping. This way you will avoid fighting with your partner, if he/she wants to fall asleep immediately.
